The corporate offices of Salient Technologies, Inc. are located in beautiful Bozeman, Montana, home of Montana State University. Bozeman is found in scenic southwestern Montana, and affords a wide variety of cultural and outdoor activities. Salient Technologies, Inc. was formed in 1998 as the combination of WEAT and NATA. WEAT (Wright Engineering and Applied Technologies) was an accomplished consulting engineering firm, specializing in product development. NATA (Northwest Advanced Technology Affiliates) specialized in engineering software and hardware solutions, training and support, particularly of the SolidWorks 3D solid modeling program.

STI maintains its high level of technical expertise by drawing on a diverse set of capabilities, including backgrounds in design and analysis consulting, industrial design, technical sales, and work in the energy, utility, defense, and CNC machine industries. STI has had significant contributions to products for the medical, military, aerospace, electronics housing, consumer goods, sporting goods, emergency relief, and home improvement categories.

STI has established and maintains an active relationship with Montana State University, both through business arrangements involving facilities for research and commercial enterprise and through occasional course instruction. STI also maintains an active relationship with the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, which is headquartered at the MSU-Bozeman campus.
